Inconel 600 (UNS N06600 / Werkstoff 2.4816) is a nickel-chromium-iron solid- solution-strengthened alloy containing approximately 76% nickel, 15.5% chromium,and 8% iron. It is one of the most widely used high-performance alloys,providing excellent resistance to high-temperature corrosion and oxidation, good resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking, and outstanding mechanical properties over a wide temperature range from cryogenic up to 1095 °C. The alloy is non-magnetic, readily fabricated by hot and cold working, weldable by all conventional methods, and is approved under ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for use up to 650 °C. Inconel 600 is supplied in many product forms — bar, rod, plate, sheet, strip, wire, pipe, tube, and forgings — and serves industries including chemical processing, aerospace, nuclear, thermal processing, and pulp & paper.

Inconel 600 combines a high nickel content for resistance to reducing environments and caustic corrosion with a high chromium content for resistance to oxidizing environments. The alloy resists chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking, making it suitable for use in chloride-containing environments where stainless steels would fail. It maintains useful strength and toughness at both cryogenic temperatures and elevated temperatures up to 1095 °C, and resists oxidation and scaling in continuous service to 1175 °C and intermittent service to 1035 °C. The alloy is not age-hardenable; strengthening is achieved only by cold work. It is approved for nuclear core applications (ASME Section III).
