Descripción General

HASTELLOY Alloy C-4 (UNS N06455) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloy containing Cr 16 and Mo 15.5, stabilized with titanium (Ti 0.70 max) to minimize grain boundary precipitation during welding and thermal exposure. The titanium stabilization provides superior thermal stability compared to standard C-type alloys, making C-4 particularly suitable for fabricated equipment that requires post-fabrication stress relief or prolonged service at elevated temperatures. The alloy provides excellent resistance to general corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking in a wide range of chemical environments, particularly in wet-process phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, and chloride-containing media.

HASTELLOY Alloy C-4 is supplied in the sheet solution heat-treated condition, delivering yield strength of 414 MPa, tensile strength of 765 MPa, elongation of 52%, and hardness of HRB 90. The alloy is manufactured to multiple ASTM standards covering plate/sheet/strip (B 575), rod (B 574), pipe and tube (B 619, B 622, B 626), and fittings (B 366). The titanium stabilization minimizes the formation of grain boundary carbides during thermal cycling, ensuring that corrosion resistance is maintained in welded and high-temperature-exposed conditions. HASTELLOY C-4 is widely used in the chemical process industry for heat exchangers, reactors, columns, and piping systems handling aggressive chemicals.
