Alclad 2024 (UNS A82024) sheet is the quintessential aerospace aluminum alloy, combining the high strength, excellent fatigue resistance, and good fracture toughness of 2024 aluminum with dramatically improved corrosion resistance through a metallurgically bonded high-purity aluminum cladding layer. Available primarily in O, T3, and T4 tempers with thicknesses from 0.2–6.35 mm, it is the material of choice for aircraft fuselage skins, wing skins, and structural panels where high strength-to-weight ratio and reliable performance under cyclic loading are paramount. The Alclad layer provides sacrificial corrosion protection, making it far more durable in service than bare 2024.
