Description (English)
Invar 36 is a binary nickel-iron alloy containing approximately 36% nickel, renowned for its exceptionally low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE ≈ 1.2 × 10⁻⁶/°C at 20–100 °C), the lowest among all metallic materials. This unique dimensional stability over a wide temperature range makes it the material of choice for precision instruments, scientific equipment, and cryogenic applications where thermal expansion must be minimized. The alloy also offers good mechanical strength, toughness, and weldability, with its properties tunable through controlled thermal processing.
