Overview
NIMONIC Alloy 80A (UNS N07080) is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy containing Ni 74.5, Cr 20.5, Al 1.25, and Ti 2.4, designed for high-temperature service up to 815°C (1500°F). The combined aluminum and titanium additions form gamma-prime precipitates during aging, providing excellent high-temperature strength and creep resistance. NIMONIC 80A is one of the most widely used superalloys for gas turbine components, jet engine exhaust systems, and high-temperature fasteners. The alloy maintains good oxidation resistance and mechanical stability under prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures.
Description (English)
NIMONIC Alloy 80A is supplied in the heat-treated condition of 1975°F air cool plus 1300°F, producing yield strength of 621 MPa, tensile strength of 1062 MPa, elongation of 39%, and hardness of HRB 34. Bars and forgings are manufactured to ASTM A 637 standard. The precipitation-hardening response from the Al + Ti additions delivers superior creep and stress-rupture properties compared to solid-solution strengthened NIMONIC 75. The alloy is widely specified for gas turbine blades and discs, jet engine afterburner components, and high-temperature bolted assemblies in aerospace and power generation industries.
