Overview

HASTELLOY Alloy C-276 (UNS N10216) is the most widely used corrosion-resistant nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten superalloy, containing Mo 16, Cr 15.5, W 4, and very low carbon content. The alloy provides exceptional resistance to both oxidizing and reducing environments, with strong resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking. The very low carbon content (C 0.02 max) minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, preserving corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition. HASTELLOY C-276 is recognized as the universal corrosion-resistant alloy for the chemical process industry, suitable for service in the harshest environments including wet chlorides, hypochlorites, chlorine, acetic acid, formic acid, seawater, and many other aggressive media.

Description (English)

HASTELLOY Alloy C-276 is supplied in the sheet solution heat-treated condition, delivering yield strength of 358 MPa, tensile strength of 793 MPa, elongation of 61%, and hardness of HRB 90. The alloy is manufactured to multiple ASTM standards covering plate/sheet/strip (B 575), rod (B 574), pipe and tube (B 619, B 622, B 626), and fittings (B 366). The exceptional ductility (61%) provides outstanding formability for complex fabrications. HASTELLOY C-276 is widely used in chemical processing, pulp and paper production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, flue gas desulfurization systems, and marine applications where versatile corrosion resistance is required.
