Overview

HASTELLOY Alloy B-2 (UNS N10665) is a nickel-molybdenum superalloy containing Mo 28, specifically engineered for resistance to hydrochloric acid and other strongly reducing chemicals at all concentrations and temperatures. The very low carbon and silicon content (C 0.02 max, Si 0.10 max) minimizes carbide and intermetallic phase precipitation in the weld heat-affected zone, ensuring that the alloy's corrosion resistance is maintained in the as-welded condition without the need for post-weld heat treatment. HASTELLOY B-2 is the preferred material for chemical process equipment handling HCl, H₂SO₄, acetic acid, and other aggressive reducing media.

Description (English)

HASTELLOY Alloy B-2 is supplied in the sheet solution heat-treated condition, delivering yield strength of 524 MPa, tensile strength of 951 MPa, elongation of 53%, and hardness of HRB 22. The alloy is manufactured to multiple ASTM standards covering sheet/plate/strip (B 333), rod (B 335), pipe and tube (B 619, B 622, B 626), and fittings (B 366). The exceptional ductility (53%) demonstrates the alloy's outstanding formability for fabricated equipment. HASTELLOY B-2 is widely used in the chemical process industry for reactors, heat exchangers, evaporators, scrubbers, and transfer piping handling hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, and other reducing chemicals.
