
Overview
2024 aluminum plate is a high-strength, heat-treatable Al-Cu-Mg alloy available in plate thicknesses (โฅ6.35 mm). Known as the classic "aircraft alloy," 2024 offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, good fatigue resistance, and good machinability. Unlike sheet, plate is typically supplied bare (unclad) since thicker sections have sufficient section thickness to resist corrosion; however, Alclad plate is also available for severe environments.
