Overview

Alloy 52 (UNS N14052 / ASTM F30) is a 50.5% nickel-iron controlled-expansion alloy widely used for glass-to-metal seals in electronic and electrical components. With a nickel content of approximately 50.5%, it provides a coefficient of thermal expansion closely matched to soft (lead) glasses over a broad temperature range. Alloy 52 roll wire is supplied in coil form (spooled or coiled length), drawn to precise diameters, and used for sealing pins, lead wires, and stem press contacts in lamps, vacuum tubes, relays, and semiconductor packages.
