Description (English)
17-4PH (UNS S17400) is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel containing approximately 17% chromium, 4% nickel, and 3% copper. It combines high strength and hardness (achievable through a single low-temperature aging treatment) with good corrosion resistance, excellent mechanical properties up to 315 °C, and good fabrication characteristics including weldability and machinability. The alloy is widely used in aerospace, chemical, petrochemical, food processing, paper, and general metalworking industries where a combination of high strength, moderate corrosion resistance, and good fabrication response is required.
